first_imgMay 5, 2018 /Sports News – Local Utah Baseball Falls to No. 2 Stanford, 25-5 Robert Lovell Written by FacebookTwitterLinkedInEmailSALT LAKE CITY – The Utah baseball team dropped its second game to No. 2 Stanford, 25-5 on Saturday afternoon.Stanford put up 10 runs in the fifth inning, five in the sixth inning and six in the seventh inning.DaShawn Keirsey Jr., Rykker Tom, Oliver Dunn and Shea Kramer each had two hits for the Utes. Kramer also had two RBI while Tom, Braden DeBenedictis and Davis Delorefice also drove in runs. The Utes had 14 hits on the day.Utah scored three runs in the seventh inning. Keirsey hit a one-out double to center and scored on Tom’s RBI single. Pinch-hitter Isaac Cruz singled and Chandler Anderson walked to load the bases. DeBenedictis sent home a run on a sacrifice fly and Delorefice hit a single to score another run for the Utes.The Utes added two runs in the bottom of the ninth with DeBenedictis and Dominic Foscalina each drawing walks while Matt Richardson singled with two outs to load the bases. Kramer had the big hit of the inning with a two-RBI single.The Utes used four pitchers, the most successful who was Spencer Johnson, who allowed two runs on four hits with a strikeout and a walk. Josh Tedeschi earned the loss in the start, striking out four over his four innings while Jacob Rebar and Austin Moore also made appearances.Utah and Stanford play game three of the series on Sunday, May 6, at 11:30 a.m. at Smith’s Ballpark.
