Sky narrows down choice to two charities

first_imgThe Chicken Shed Theatre Company and NCH have made it to the final stage in broadcaster Sky’s Make It Big charity selection process.Both charities, selected from a shortlist of ten, will now be visited by a group of Sky executives to see how the charities work on the ground, and how they would spend at least £1 million that the partnership is likely to generate over the next three years. Following these visits a Make it Big charity will be announced.The Chicken Shed Theatre Company encourages young people from all backgrounds and of all perceived abilities to work together to produce high quality drama, music and dance performances. Woman’s Death in East Meadow Probed as Homicide

first_imgSign up for our COVID-19 newsletter to stay up-to-date on the latest coronavirus news throughout New York A 52-year-old woman was found dead in her East Meadow home and her death is being investigated as a homicide, Nassau County police said.Officers responded to a 911 call reporting “an unconscious female” at a Prospect Avenue home at the corner of Rugby Street, where Mirian Bejarano was found lying on the floor at 4 p.m. Tuesday, police said.“We do not believe this is a random act of violence,” Chief of Detectives Kevin Smith told reporters Wednesday during a news conference at police headquarters. “Our investigation has direction and focus.”The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The Nassau County medical examiner’s office is performing an autopsy to determine her cause of death.Smith said that the victim shares the home with her husband and son, who was at work at the time. The family also rents the second floor of the home, but it was unclear if the tenants were home at the time. Smith declined to release further details except to say that investigators are looking for all of the victim’s relatives.Homicide Squad detectives are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information regarding this crime to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.  All callers will remain anonymous.last_img read more

TOP Ships Agrees 3-Year Charter with Clearlake

first_imgGreek shipowner TOP Ships has agreed to enter into a time charter deal with Singapore-based Clearlake Shipping for one of its product/chemical tankers.The company informed that the 39,208 dwt, 2015-built Eco Fleet would be employed for a firm period of 36 months plus two additional 12 month periods, at the charterer’s option.The revenue backlog expected to be generated by this fixture, assuming all options are exercised, is about USD 25 million.“We are happy to have concluded a new fixture with a high quality charterer which, in line with our strategy, further extends our charter coverage,” Evangelos Pistiolis, the President, Chief Executive Officer and Director of the Company, said.“Following this fixture, total gross revenue backlog for the fixed charter period of operating vessels, from June 30, 2018, stands at about USD 211 million, increasing to about USD 225 million when adding the 50% of our joint venture vessels.”Separately, the company informed that it is offering an aggregate of 2 million of its common shares and warrants to purchase up to 3.5 million of common shares. The warrants will have an exercise price of USD 1.50 per share, TOP Ships said, adding that the warrants will be exercisable for four months from the date of issuance.last_img read more
